Press Release

Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo
Javits Convention Center
July 13 - 15, 2010

Inaugural edition of Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo confirms market potential

Synergies result from tri-location of complimentary shows

The first edition of the Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo (HTFSE) was tri-located with Texworld USA, the largest apparel fabrics show in North America, and the launch of the International Apparel Sourcing Show.

The Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo alone drew 66 exhibitors from 5 countries and welcomed 623 attendees. The triple show event as a whole drew 457 exhibitors and more than 5000 attendees.

Accolades for the tri-location came from as far away as China, with several VIPs from the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade in attendance and the New York City Mayor’s Office, who expressed their pride in hosting these international events by stating, “New York is an international fashion capital. Even during these challenging economic times, our City continues to lead this industry in business and innovation, and we’re proud to host three tremendous events for manufacturers and buyers from around the world: Texworld USA, Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo, and International Apparel Sourcing Show. We’re especially pleased to welcome the 250 Chinese exhibitors participating in these shows, in recognition of the strong economic ties that continue to help our two countries’ business communities thrive.”

Top U.S. companies such as Anthropologie, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Iconix Brands, Martha Stewart Living, Pier 1 Imports, Portico Home & Spa, Sears, Target and TJX HomeGoods took advantage of the three day expo.

Lenzing Fibers also showed confidence in the Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo by expanding their existing Lenzing Innovation concept from Texworld USA into both events as well as organizing the first HTFSE seminar series.

Dieter Eichinger, Head of Textile Business for Lenzing Fibers, commented on the importance of Lenzing’s participation, “The combination of Texworld USA with Home Textiles Fabric Sourcing Expo shows synergies as some Lenzing customers are offering fabrics for apparel and home. The response of our exhibitors was very positive in regards to the number of visitors, the quality of discussion and feedback. The seminars reflected the increasing interest for Lenzing Fibers, specifically for the performance of Tencel®. The new warm fiber Viloft® was received well by decision makers.”

Highlights from the seminar program included two presentations focused on eco; Eco Marketing Trends: Green Marketing Done Right, by Jacquelyn Ottman and Eco Trends: the Art & Science of Sourcing Sustainably, by Summer Rayne Oakes. Over 200 attendees took advantage of these complimentary presentations, affirming the interest of this audience in the ongoing conversation regarding sustainability.

Home and soft goods professionals from companies such as Ellery Homestyles, Sears and Target took a cue from Laurie Pressman, Vice-President Fashion, Home and Interiors at Pantone, regarding colors for home and interiors for 2011.

Trend stories and color palettes from Messe Frankfurt’s flagship Heimtextil show were on display and included in the Home Textiles
Fabric Sourcing Expo show directory for future reference. A small display of fabric swatches, embellishment techniques and finished samples was also highlighted on the show floor. The table top and bed categories had the strongest representation.

Attendee Statements

Westport Home Fashions, Michael Cuso, President, USA: “We selected 3 to 4 sources and requested samples & pricing from the group…They sounded anxious to follow up and hopefully we will see everything in the next few weeks…A show is worthwhile if we get one “New” idea.  We were successful at HTFSE as we picked up some interesting European design concepts that may have some US application.”

Exhibitor Statements

Hainin Shuangfei Cloth Industrial Co. Ltd., Jolin Cai, Representative, China: “From a new exhibitor perspective, the show was very good. We saw new companies who requested many samples.”

Hangzhou Charming Textile Co., Ltd., Sunny Wu, Representative, China: “We are fortunate to have had the chance to participate in this wonderful exhibition as it was quite successful. We will absolutely exhibit again in 2011.”
